The blowing of the conch shell sounded off at 5:00am this morning in the village of Black Rock, signaling the beginning of the Tobago Heritage Festival 2015 celebrations.

The “Wake Up Call” began with a street procession through the village, ending at the Courland Heritage Park. The festivities then moved to the sea, where the blessing of the boat occurred and members of the public then joined fishermen in the pulling of seine. Children weren’t left out as the Sea Sports continued after.

Later in the afternoon, the stage production surrounded the significance of the Black Rock Sea Festival to Tobago. Villagers also paid tribute to all who lost their lives at Courland Bay, during war between the Europeans and the Amerindians.
